About Rocklands Bird Sanctuary
A very simple relaxing rustic environment in the Beautiful Garden of a country cottage. Here you will be able to feed hummingbirds and Grass quits that come to your hands for feed. Fritz your host will point out birds as they come for food on the patio.
The sanctuary is home to thousands of birds from Jamaica and migrant birds who have flown thousands of miles to feed here. The Red-billed Streamertail and Jamaica Mango are so tame that they will come straight to a handheld bottle of sugar water and some will even sit on your finger to feed.
Rockland’s Bird Sanctuary is located in the beautiful city of Montego Bay. The Sanctuary also known to some as the Rockland’s Feeding Station was originally owned and run for many years by Lisa Salmon known to the locals as ‘the bird lady’. Sadly Lisa passed away in the year 2000, and she was in her 90’s, however fortunately the property is still being run as a sanctuary by her nephew, and is managed by a guy name as Fritz, who has been working at the Sanctuary for the last 15 years.
